He leads me THROUGH the valley ---- December 5

Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.

2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.

4 Even when I walk
through the dark valley of death,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.

In a Dayspring I noticed a middle aged woman who had a contagious smile and wonderful warm spirit. I commented to her that I sensed the presence of God in her life. Her eyes welled up with tears as she thanked me for telling her what I saw in her. She then unfolded a story of great pain.

Her husband of nearly 30 years had left her in the last year. He told her that he had never loved her of their children. He made it clear that he felt she had no real value and he did not want her in his life anymore.

It was a sad, tragic story. "Where have you found the strength to go on?", I asked. She replied, "I have leaned on Jesus with all my weight. He has helped me to know that I am not a disposable worthless person. He sees me as a valued member of His family. I know He will never leave me. He promised that He would walk with me "through the valley of the shadow of death". It's true. I've found Him there".

If you find yourself in one of life's valley's today, look around. You are not alone. You are surrounded by people who love you and a God who will never desert you.
