Romans 1:16,17 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—Jews first and also Gentiles. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
A little second grade boy came home from Sunday School and asked his dad, "Was Jesus a big man like you?"
"Yes son, I believe He was." he responded.
"Dad, does Jesus really live in my heart?"
"Yes, son." was the certain answer.
"Well then, He must be stiking out all over."
We smile at the simplicity of the child's image of Jesus, but he may really be onto something here. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is Good News, precisely because it is not about us being good enough to merit God. It is the power of God - saving us. It is God doing for us what we could never do for ourselves. It's what He's willing to do for anyone who will trust Him, regardless of race or station in life.
By His love and power He reaches out to us. We reach back to Him with trust and faith and the work is done. He forgives, cleanses, and empowers us to be all we were created to be in the first place.
I have nothing to brag about. He has done it all. I have been made right with God. He is producing His life and fruit in me. My job is now to stay connected to Him. He's my source - my hope - my life. It's really Good News!!!
