It's hot and dry!!

Believe it or not, I think it's been drier here in KY than it has been in TX this year. The famous KY Bluegrass has become brown and yellow grass. So sad!
I did see something today that causes one to pause and think.

The grass at Asbury Theological Seminary is very dry and yellow. It's been a while since there has been any growth. Yet, I watched a maintenance man climb up on a mower today and cut acres and acres of dead grass. The only way you could see that a mower had been over the grass was the tire prints over the dead foliage. I figure that his job description calls for a weekly cutting of the grass and the day of the week for cutting was today. It didn't really matter that it didn't need cutting. It was time.

If we're not careful, we'll find ourselves doing things, not because they are needed, but because they are expected or tied to a calendar. Lord, help us to serve you with wisdom and to use the years you have given us productively.

For those who have been praying regarding my heart condition, the nurse called today and told me that I could wait until my return in December to talk with the Doctor. I can return to normal activities, but I am to get to a doctor immediately if there are any symptoms. (Somehow that doesn't comfort me much) I do have an appointment with a KY cardiologist in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know what I find out. I hope to post updates here regularly (or irregularly). I'll do my best.

If you'd like to see some great pics of the family, our son Philip has posted some here.

There are some really cute pictures of James' family at the kindergarten graduation of Ethan. They can be seen here.

Enjoy.

Thanks for your continued prayer during this time of sabbatical
